I've started jogging in the mornings, and today was particularly satisfying. I tried a route north of town, heading up one of the ridges that climbs away from the river. About a quarter way up, a blue truck went by chuga-chugging at about the cadence I was pacing. Every time I thought I was cresting the ridge, it kept going up. I wasn't sure how far I'd make it, but then as i came over one rise I saw that had started gaining on the blue truck! That spurred me on, so I picked up the pace and gave them a big grin as I passed. That's the first time I've ever been running faster than traffic.
We had a forester visiting with us yesterday and today. Quite nice to have company. He's from the UK and worked on community resource management in Nepal for nine years and is now working on a project in Yunan, not far from us.
The parts came in for our truck, so it's in the shop now and we should be heading up (in elevation) to the grasslands on Wednesday- if all goes well at the garage.
