Another long day

Got a few hours of sleep last night. Expat friends from the quake area came in today. Visibly shaken. We talked for a long time, looked through photos and videos. It was really a miracle that this particular family made it out. Stories broke our hearts, as did photos of the devastation. Found out that two more of our close local friends are ok, too.

Currently organizing teams for purchasing of medical supplies and dispatching of two-to-five more medical teams in the next 48 hours. Efforts may seem small and slow in the face of such a disaster, but we are guests in this country and are working within the bounds of what is officially requested of us. There are government structures in place for organizing and providing aid, and they have in fact responded extremely quickly. We are part of their team, and are both eager and prepared to provide all that is asked of us.
